Breast Cancer Research Foundation Symposium & Luncheon

December 18th, 2012

On Tuesday November 27th, 340 Madison Avenue completed its sixth year of supporting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

BCRF is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides critical funding for innovative clinical and translational research at leading medical centers worldwide.

Breast Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer.  At this time there are about 2.9 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.

The Symposium and Luncheon was hosted at the Waldorf Astoria.   Special Guest Speaker, Larry Norton, MD and his colleagues spoke about this year’s scientific achievements, new research and the continuing challenges still facing researchers in overcoming this disease.   Dr. Norton is the Deputy Physician-in-Chief for the Breast Cancer Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than $385 million to support clinical and translational research at medical institutions across the globe.

At the end of the event, each guest received a gift bag full of goodies.  Continuing its tradition of support, 340 Madison Avenue was proud to dedicate an area in the building to assemble “pretty in pink” gift bags.  RXR is honored to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
